Bath & Stonehenge Weekend Trip 21-23 November!

The Hellenic Society is pleased to announce our first weekend trip of the 08-09 season to BATH & STONEHENGE!

We’ve booked a coach and 49 beds in the quite famous YMCA hostel in Bath for the weekend of 21st to 23rd of November. The coach leaves Manchester 5pm on Friday afternoon, arrives in Bath, where we stay for 2 nights in the YMCA, and leave Sunday noon to visit the mysterious must-see attraction Stonehenge, and then head back home.

Discover Bath’s heritage at the world famous Roman Baths, bathe in Britain’s only natural thermal waters at Thermae Bath Spa or visit the 15th century Bath Abbey. From art and history, to fashion and Jane Austen, there really is something for everyone. Explore the beautiful countryside surrounding Bath and enjoy walking, cycling, boating or even hot-air ballooning. Take in the view on one of Bath’s glorious golf courses or cheer from the sidelines at Bath Rugby or the racecourse.

The price of the trip includes coach travel, 2 nights accommodation in the hostel and 2 breakfasts. The hostel has two types of rooms: dormitory-style rooms with 10 beds (ideal for big groups of friends), and smaller 2, 3 and 4-bed rooms. Where: The International Paintball Group Game Zone in Zuluwood, 40 mins from Manchester. www.ipg.uk.net

York Day Trip! 5/10/08

The first Hellenic Society trip of the year will be to YORK!

The trip is on the 5th of October, Sunday. The cost is only £10 to our members (much much cheaper than the International Society trip so tell your friends!)

We’re going by coach , so we’re limited to only 50 seats. We’ll be departing from outside the Student Union on Oxford Road at 9am, and leaving York at 6pm.

Why is York the ideal first trip destination for all new students to the UK? Visit the official site of York tourism for the main attractions.

Lake District Trip June 21st

Thanks to everyone for your enthusiastic response to our Alton Towers trip! We’re planning a second trip for the month of June, reoffering the previously canceled April trip to the Lake District! (If you’re interested for this trip, please call or email as soon as possible, when we get at least 30 people sign up we’ll go ahead with the trip.)

on Saturday June 21st we’re taking a coach to Lake Keswick in the Lake District for a Day Trip! The Lake is a must-see destination in the UK.

Once there you can:

-lunch and shop around the traditional english village by the lake,

-have a picnic with your friends on the green hills overlooking the lake,

-walk down the picturesque forest path around the lake,

-take a ferry tour through the lake (getting on and off at the various stops around the perimeter if you want to walk through the forest to the next stop),

-do water sports, or

-rent your own small boat with your friends and row around the lake at your leisure (highly recommended!)

Ticket prices ONLY £12!! Limited seats so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment! Coaches leave Opal Gardens at 9am, and Student Union (Oxford Road) at 9:15am as usual, and then leaving from the lakes by 7pm.

Vote for our Summer Trips destinations

This worked very well last time we tried it, so let’s give it another go! We’re doing these trips for you and your friends so your input is the ultimate deciding factor!

We’re planning two trips for the summer and we’d like to hear from you on which destinations and which weekends you prefer. The first trip will likely be on the week between Sunday 8/6 to Saturday 14/6.

Update on Coaches for Holy Friday-Saturday

A quick update on the coaches! All coaches for both days are now full. We were overwhelmed with students calling in to book places, but even with 5 normal buses and 2 double-decker buses for the two days, we still barely managed to cover demand! In collaboration with the Greater Manchester Cyprus Society (GMCS, we will be transporting 173 students on Holy Friday and 222 students on Holy Saturday!

Because of the huge number of people, we’d appreciate it if you came in timely fashion, 5-10 minutes before the set departure time. There will be people from the Hellenic Society committee in each stop to organise you per bus. Also please check the two documents below which have the full passenger lists for each bus. If you can memorize your bus number and passenger number it will make the boarding process run very smoothly!
